Team Entries / Relay
The person making the team booking is designated team captain and is responsible for copying out these Terms and Conditions and presenting them to each participant as necessary in advance of the race. Each team will have a single race number allocation and will be issued with one race timing/GPS tracker that must be passed between participants. The chip timing device represents the nominal baton of their relay race. Individual race legs must be completed in their entirety by a single particpant. The maximum number of participants in any team is three. Each participant will have to present evidence of their own personal accident insurance, or buy race day insurance at registration. Each team pledges to raise the minimum sponsorship detailed below, as though it were a single participant.
Fundraising
You hereby accept the ethos of this race is to raise as much as possible for the RMA, The Royal Marines Association, the charity in support of injured veterans and their dependants.
You hereby enter a contractual obligation to raise at least £166.40 for the charity.
You agree to join the JustGiving Team page as indicated on the event website.
You agree to make good any shortfall below the minimum amount and confirm you will settle any such shortfall at registration the day before the race.
You agree to do your best to raise donations up to, but not limited to, the prize-winning total of £1664.
Safety
A precondition of entering this event is that you agree it is your responsibility to endeavour to practice all reasonable safety precautions. You agree SeaLion Triathlons will not always be able to pinpoint your location, as the GPS trackers issued at registration require mobile phone signal which is not always guaranteed on the more exposed sections of the course. You therefore accept your full responsibility to inform SeaLion Triathlons as soon as you are involved in any incident. You understand that seeking to be rescued may expose others to risk. If you decide to abandon the race you accept your responsibility to inform SeaLion Triathlons officials of your abandonment. You must immediately return to Race HQ or make your way to the nearest marshalled checkpoint or food/water station. You agree that failure to do this could make you liable for the cost of any rescue operation whether by SeaLion Triathlons, its sub-contractors, or external bodies such as the Coastguard. You agree to arrive at Race HQ in good time for registration and race briefing. We reserve the right to refuse your participation if you do not arrive within the stated times. It is mandatory to register at Race HQ on the day prior to the race and to attend the race briefing. NOTE there is no registration on race day. Failure to register and to attend the race briefing disqualifies your entry.
Course
Our course is open to the general public and you will be riding on public roads and running on public paths. By entering this event you acknowledge and agree to take adequate care when participating. You acknowledge that members of the public may not be aware of the race, and that you agree to always remain in control of your pace. This course is extremely challenging and the cut-off times specified are there as a safety precaution. Any SeaLion Triathlons crew member may direct you to stop your participation at any time, and need not specify a reason. You confirm that you will take note of the emergency phone number as provided on display at Race HQ and at the pre-race briefing. You acknowledge that course markings may be dislodged, removed, or tampered with by members of the public and that you will rely on the GPX course files emailed to you before the event and loaded onto your GPS capable device to help prevent you getting lost. We strongly advise you always proceed with caution, always notice and adhere to road signs and local speed limits, and to stay within your physical limits and in control of your machine.

Format Changes
SeaLion Triathlons reserves the right to change the date, timing, location and format of the race if necessary, for example if inclement weather or rough seas force us to cancel, shorten, or re-route any part of the race course.
Postponements / Cancellations
If the race has to be postponed SeaLion Triathlons will endeavour to arrange an alternative date and you will be notified of this at the earliest opportunity. No refunds are due should you not wish to participate in the rearranged race. Should unforeeseen circumstances force majeure or acts of god force the complete cancellation of the event, we will fairly allocate the balance of our race entry fees account minus the set-up expenses we incurred up front to refund all athletes pro rata.
Personal Accident Insurance
Most of our athletes will have a Triathlon Licence from their national federation that also includes Personal Accident Insurance. If your federation does not offer this, or you are not affiliated to your contry's triathlon governing body, you must organize your own Personal Accident Insurance and show your insurance certificate at registration. We are exploring with our insureres the possibility of arranging race-day accident insurance for our participants on race day (TBC). Racers will not be issued GPS timing chips or allowed to start the race without showing proof of their Personal Accident Insurance at race registration.
Withdrawals / Refunds
Should you wish to cancel your place when registering you will have the option to purchase refund protection. This protection will refund your starting fee in full if you have to cancel or withdraw. With no such insurance, our withdrawal policy reflects our desire to be fair in respect of the costs we have incurred up front.
Withdrawals before March 31st 2021 - Refund 75%
Withdrawals before June 30th 2021 - Refund 50%
Withdrawals after June 30th 2021 - No Refund
